Forests for Future workshop

I participated in the Forests for Future project workshop in MaĊĦun Forestry House on the 18th of May 2022.

The goal of this EUKI* supported project is to identify forest management practices that maintain or even increase forest carbon sink while actively managing forests.to strengthen cooperation in the EU in the further development and implementation of its ambitious climate policy.

Trees and forests represent a large sink of carbon dioxide, the concentration of which is increasing in the atmosphere mainly due to the use of fossil fuels. Forests in Slovenia have a huge unexploited potential for mitigating climate change impacts.

Project results were presented and recommendations to policymakers were made to support the efficient management of carbon stored in forests.

*EUKI is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)
